I started my education in Pakistan. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was in grade 11 and I got to experience the BC grade 11 and 12 curricula. I then went on to complete my Bachelor's Degree in International Relations at Simon Fraser University. I felt privileged that I had the opportunity to compare the education systems of two vastly different academic structures. This made me want to help other international students integrate in the Canadian education system. After I graduated from SFU, I worked as an application consultant at International Student Connection. I helped international students with Canadian university application processes. During this time, I tutored English as a Second Language (ESL). I joined AKILI Tutoring in 2017 and started to assist elementary school children with Mathematics K - 7, Reading and Writing . I am fluent in English, Urdu, and able to communicate in; French, Hindi, and Punjabi. Having an academic and multilingual background, I am fully aware of the challenges students face. Therefore, my approach is to make lessons fun and engaging. In an environment where students feel supported and empowered.

I am a chemistry graduate student at Simon Fraser University and serve as a teaching assistant for the chemistry department, teaching undergraduate chemistry-related courses during class and tutorial sessions. I started my educational career in Ghana, where I completed high school and obtained my bachelor’s degree. One thing I am very proud of about myself throughout my educational journey is that I have always been among the best students in my classes. I have experience in teaching from elementary school to university level and I consider this as one of the most important experiences after high school and up to my university career. I started teaching elementary school mathematics and science after completing High School. During my undergraduate studies, I was teaching Math to highschool students during vacations. Before I joined SFU in 2023, I was a chemistry tutor at the Technical University in Ghana. In the fall of 2023, I was a Teaching Assistant for a chemistry course with one of my friends who is also a graduate student. During quiz time, my students were doing better than her students to the extent her students started switching to my class. She approached me for help, and I told her that I am always available for my students and that all my students have my email address and I encourage them to send me questions outside of class time. My passion is to inspire and motivate students to reach their academic goals. I work on building student confidence and ensure my students feel comfortable approaching me with their problems and concerns. My students trust my teaching style and flexibility. At AKILI, I look forward to helping students stand out strong in their academics.

My journey in education started at home in Tanzania, where I honed my teaching skills by assisting my siblings to excel in their studies. This experience was complemented by my role as a peer tutor at school, where I assisted my classmates in understanding math and science concepts. My approach to tutoring is based on figuring out the best way to explain new concepts to students as each individual has their own way of learning. Now based in Canada, I am an International master's student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Geomatics in environmental management. I’m excited to continue hands-on experience and inspire students to achieve their academic goals in mathematics and sciences.

I lived in Russia until the age of 15, at which point I moved to Vancouver. I finished high school and began my post-secondary education on the North Shore. I have always had a passion for helping people. Tutoring has been an outlet for that passion for me. I started tutoring my peers when I was in grade 8. Since then I have had 8 years of experience in the field, both working with my University and with tutoring companies. My approach to tutoring stems from the fact that I want to help grow students' confidence in their own skills. To achieve this, I ensure that students truly grasp each concept they are learning. Doing so allows them to understand that they are capable of working with the concept even after they leave the tutorial.

I moved from Iran to Canada with my family when I was in grade 4. I attended Capilano Elementary school, however, in the evenings my mom homeschooled me the Iranian curriculum and I gave the end of the year exams for all the subjects until grade 9! After grade 9 I spent the majority of my after school time on sports, choir, and schoolwork, especially when I joined the IB program. I attended West Vancouver Secondary School, where I joined the Pre-Diploma Program in grade 10 and then part IB meaning I had IB English Higher Level (HL), Geography HL, Math HL in grade 11 then Math Standard Level (SL) grade in grade 12. Since graduating from high school, I have graduated from SFU with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, with a focus on Active Health and Rehab. I have over 6 years of tutoring experience with two different tutoring companies, started when I was in grade 9, in which I primarily taught English and Math from K-12. Through years of experience, I have gained invaluable skills that make me excellent at teaching. I am very patient, positive, and goal oriented. I can help students overcome any challenges one step at a time, while building excellent work habits and confidence in the student.

I am an undergraduate Biology student at UBC with a deep enthusiasm for helping students unlock their academic potential. I am eager to support students in their learning journeys. I completed the IB program at West Vancouver Secondary and often assisted my classmates with topics that came more naturally to me, which not only reinforced my own understanding but also sparked my passion for teaching. I welcome students of all levels and enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible parts. Having experienced tutoring myself at a younger age, I have a deep appreciation for the patience and dedication that tutors bring to their work. I am excited to teach English, Math, Chemistry, and Biology, and to help students build confidence and excel in their studies. I wish to help more and more students and play my part in positively impacting our community. I can teach in English and Farsi, and my long-term goal is to pursue medicine.

I am an internationally trained medical professional. I followed 7 years of primary education and 4 years of O'level education in Tanzania. I achieved a National top 10 best student status. I was awarded the highly acclaimed scholarship to complete my high school in Hong Kong. I attended the Li Po Chun United World College and did an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. I won another prestigious scholarship at Simon Fraser University and did a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Subsequently, I went to the Caribbean for medical school and graduated from Windsor University in St. Kitts. I have successfully passed all my medical board examinations and I am waiting for residency placement. I started tutoring Mathematics to my sister and nephew in Tanzania. I realized each session gave me a sense of fulfillment and wanted to do more. I extended my help to colleagues. When I went to Hong Kong, I did not shy away from Mathematics tutorials to my peers. After coming to Canada, I worked at different tutoring companies helping many students achieve their academic goals. Over the last 12 years, my forte in teaching Mathematics and the Sciences begins with the first session. I have a unique talent to adapt to each student's style of learning and infuse my ingredients. Some of the students I have helped are in law, medical, engineering, nursing, business, and graduate schools. The tutors I have mentored, enjoy their own successes as well. I hope to transform many more students and mentor other tutors through AKILI Education Services Inc.

I recently graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Science, a journey that allowed me to
deepen my technical knowledge and passion for education. During my time in the program, I had
the privilege of serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, where I supported over 60 students in
their academic development. In this role, I not only improved my teaching skills but also
developed leadership experience by managing tutorial sessions, coordinating with faculty, and
mentoring junior students. This experience reinforced my love for teaching and the satisfaction
that comes from helping others understand complex concepts.
I thrive on breaking down complicated ideas into simpler, more digestible pieces, keeping
students engaged and motivated to learn. Whether it is a challenging math problem or a complex
science theory, I find joy in making these subjects accessible and enjoyable.
As I look to gain experience in the tech industry, I am equally committed to contributing to
STEM education. By tutoring students in math, science, and English writing, I aim to inspire and
equip them with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed. My goal is to balance my
career in technology with a meaningful impact in education, helping students unlock their full
potential.

I am a UBC graduate with a Master of Applied Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Altruism has always been a central part of my self-concept, and I have tried to fulfill it in different ways throughout my life. I explained complex mathematics, chemistry, and physics concepts to my classmates sharing the bench with me in high school. I did not anticipate that my explanations could make a difference until I realized two friends were arguing over sitting next to me for the chemistry class! I also received several positive feedbacks from others saying how helpful I was in making complex concepts understandable, resulting in their boosted quiz marks. I noticed that I am well competent in transferring my knowledge to others in an easily understandable way. I tried to utilize my teaching skills in a more challenging environment. In the fourth year of undergrad, I started working as a teaching assistant (TA) for engineering courses. I continued working as a teaching assistant (TA) until I graduated with my master's in 2019. I was engaged in holding tutorial sessions, available during office hours, and marking exams and assignments. My passion for teaching made me pursue tutoring as a profession. In 2017, I started tutoring my sister in Pre-Calculus and Chemistry 11. The word spread, and I got students from grades 10, 11, and 12, and first-year university whom I helped with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. I can teach lower grades as well as select university courses. I am incredibly patient, and my enthusiasm for teaching makes me unbound on time and place during tutorial sessions. I wish to help more and more students and play my part in positively impacting our community. I can teach in English and Farsi, and my long-term goal is to pursue medicine.
