I started my education in Pakistan. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was in grade 11 and I got to experience the BC grade 11 and 12 curricula. I then went on to complete my Bachelor's Degree in International Relations at Simon Fraser University. I felt privileged that I had the opportunity to compare the education systems of two vastly different academic structures. This made me want to help other international students integrate in the Canadian education system. After I graduated from SFU, I worked as an application consultant at International Student Connection. I helped international students with Canadian university application processes. During this time, I tutored English as a Second Language (ESL). I joined AKILI Tutoring in 2017 and started to assist elementary school children with Mathematics K - 7, Reading and Writing . I am fluent in English, Urdu, and able to communicate in; French, Hindi, and Punjabi. Having an academic and multilingual background, I am fully aware of the challenges students face. Therefore, my approach is to make lessons fun and engaging. In an environment where students feel supported and empowered.

My journey in education started at home in Tanzania, where I honed my teaching skills by assisting my siblings to excel in their studies. This experience was complemented by my role as a peer tutor at school, where I assisted my classmates in understanding math and science concepts. My approach to tutoring is based on figuring out the best way to explain new concepts to students as each individual has their own way of learning. Now based in Canada, I am an International master's student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Geomatics in environmental management. I’m excited to continue hands-on experience and inspire students to achieve their academic goals in mathematics and sciences.

I lived in Russia until the age of 15, at which point I moved to Vancouver. I finished high school and began my post-secondary education on the North Shore. I have always had a passion for helping people. Tutoring has been an outlet for that passion for me. I started tutoring my peers when I was in grade 8. Since then I have had 8 years of experience in the field, both working with my University and with tutoring companies. My approach to tutoring stems from the fact that I want to help grow students' confidence in their own skills. To achieve this, I ensure that students truly grasp each concept they are learning. Doing so allows them to understand that they are capable of working with the concept even after they leave the tutorial.

My educational journey began in Iran, and I moved to Canada in the middle of Grade10, where I completed high school. Back in Iran, I didn’t enjoy going to school, but moving here completely changed my perspective. I had a much more positive experience in the Canadian school system, and it made me realize how important the right support and environment can be. That’s why I want to help other students have a

great experience in school, just like I did.

In high school, I received a science award for biology, which inspired me to pursue a degree in Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University. I am currently in my third year in this program, and I aim to get a masters degree afterwards. I tutor math, sciences, and English, and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in their learning. I have experience teaching and always strive to create a supportive and

encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Having gone through the challenge of adjusting to a new educational system myself, I understand how important it is to have someone who is patient and understanding.

My educational journey has allowed me to experience the challenges and growth that come with adapting to a new academic environment. As an international student who moved to Canada, I understand the importance of guidance, encouragement, and personalized support in helping students reach their full potential.

I am currently completing my Bachelor of Science at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on Environmental Sciences and strong academic interests in mathematics, data analysis, and technology. Through my studies, I have developed a disciplined and analytical mindset that I bring into my tutoring sessions.

As someone who is fluent in both English and German, I value the role that language, communication, and understanding play in a student’s learning experience. I recognize that every student has a unique way of learning, and I strive to adapt my teaching approach to meet their individual needs.

My goal as a tutor is to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, deepen their understanding, and grow in confidence. By making lessons clear, structured, and encouraging, I hope to help students achieve academic success while building skills that will support them beyond the classroom.

I am an internationally trained healthcare professional (DDS) currently completing the professional equivalency process in Canada. I bring a strong academic foundation combined with a multidisciplinary educational background.

After receiving my invitation to Canada, I first landed in Montreal, then moved to Toronto, before settling in Vancouver. My educational and professional journey has taken place across diverse Canadian systems, including French academic institutions as well as alternative educational environments influenced by contemplative and holistic approaches.

This exposure has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of different learning styles,

cognitive rhythms, and perspectives on education.

I have experience supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds, including students within public school systems as well as those who require individualized, confidence-building academic support. I believe that education is not only about academic performance, but also about developing clarity, confidence, and intellectual autonomy. My teaching approach emphasizes structure,

patience, and critical thinking, while fostering a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions and progress at their own pace.

I am particularly attentive to helping students build strong foundations in mathematics and science, while encouraging curiosity, discipline, and long-term academic resilience.

I am a second-year student at the University of British Columbia pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience while also completing the Bachelor and Master of Management (B+MM) dual degree program. Throughout high school and university, I have enjoyed mentoring classmates and explaining challenging concepts in ways that are easy to understand. I believe every student learns differently, so I take the time to adapt my teaching style to each individual's needs and encourage them to ask questions without hesitation.

Math, Science, and English have always been some of my favourite subjects, and I enjoy breaking down difficult topics into manageable steps. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to help them develop strong study habits and confidence that will benefit them beyond the classroom.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy knitting, trying new coffee shops, and playing games with friends. As a university student, I understand the challenges that come with balancing school, work, and extracurricular activities, which allows me to relate to students and support them throughout their academic journey.

I am an undergraduate Biology student at UBC with a deep enthusiasm for helping students unlock their academic potential.  I am eager to support students in their learning journeys. I completed the IB program at West Vancouver Secondary and  often assisted my classmates with topics that came more naturally to me, which not only reinforced my own understanding but also sparked my passion for teaching. I welcome students of all levels and enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible parts. Having experienced tutoring myself at a younger age, I have a deep appreciation for the patience and dedication that tutors bring to their work. I am excited to teach English, Math, Chemistry, and Biology, and to help students build confidence and excel in their studies. I wish to help more and more students and play my part in positively impacting our community. I can teach in English and Farsi, and my long-term goal is to pursue medicine.

I am an internationally trained medical professional. I followed 7 years of primary education and 4 years of O'level education in Tanzania. I achieved a National top 10 best student status. I was awarded the highly acclaimed scholarship to complete my high school in Hong Kong. I attended the Li Po Chun United World College and did an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. I won another prestigious scholarship at Simon Fraser University and did a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Subsequently, I went to the Caribbean for medical school and graduated from Windsor University in St. Kitts. I have successfully passed all my medical board examinations and I am waiting for residency placement. I started tutoring Mathematics to my sister and nephew in Tanzania. I realized each session gave me a sense of fulfillment and wanted to do more. I extended my help to colleagues. When I went to Hong Kong, I did not shy away from Mathematics tutorials to my peers. After coming to Canada, I worked at different tutoring companies helping many students achieve their academic goals. Over the last 12 years, my forte in teaching Mathematics and the Sciences begins with the first session. I have a unique talent to adapt to each student's style of learning and infuse my ingredients. Some of the students I have helped are in law, medical, engineering, nursing, business, and graduate schools. The tutors I have mentored, enjoy their own successes as well. I hope to transform many more students and mentor other tutors through AKILI Education Services Inc.
